This Merlot has a rich garnet colour. The nose is a complex mix of fresh cherries, nutmeg and cedar oak. A juicy, fresh yummy palate with soft integrated tannins.
These grapes were hand-picked from the Estate in February. Yields were kept low: 6 tons/ha
Malolactic fermentation took place in barrel and the wine was then aged for 20 months in predominantly 300Lt French oak barrels. The new wood component is 30%

Each of our wines is linked to a specific flower - the characteristics of the wine are symbolized by the flower on the label.
An extremely beautiful and elegant, pink flower that occurs naturally around the Cape. The cultivar Merlot is also seen as being an elegant, refined and feminine wine. The common name belladonna refers to a woman who has both beauty and character – much like our Merlot.
